I woke up the next day and took a look outside right away. IT WAS SUNNY!!!! The storm had passed, the clouds had parted and it was bluebird out! Although it was still really cold, I was exstatic. We got ready, bought our tickets and hopped onto a shuttle. In a few short minutes we were at main lodge looking up at the most wonderful, powder covered mountain. We took the Panorama Gondola up for our 1st run, just cause it was still kinda windy and cold, and we wanted to be warm and get ready to ride. A short gondola right up and we were strapped in at the top, and began our awesome day!
The day was spectacular. We took a couple runs on Forest trail and I decided to hit the bigger lips on all the jumps. Which I don't normally do, 3rd or 4th run. I dropped in and sent one flying. It felt awesome. So after that triple line, there were a couple runs to cut off, and hit the POW. My dad and I decided to hit the POW while it was there. It was SO smooth and fluffy. The trees were the best part, as you could get some really nice sprays. After the powder runs we were back to the park for awhile. We would alternate hitting Forest Trail and Main Park. I would hit everything on Forest Trail and hit all the jibs on Main, just not the jumps. Those runs were spectacular and I got my mojo going there with some skatestyle stuff. They had this fun little line. A lifttower (down barrel), to down rail, to lifttower, to other lifttower, to Down Flat Down rail. I hit that every run on Main, except for the Down Flat Down rail, which I tried later. Then we decided to make our way over to South Park and Jibs Galore.
As we traversed the mountain, in a way, we hit all the powder runs since there wasn't much park in between. We reached Chair 4 and started lapping. After a couple runs to check everything out, I decided to hit some stuff. I hit the jumps in South park, which were a little big for me, but still totally fun and cool that I got to push myself a little further. I wish I could do that everday. Then on jibs galore, I hit every feature except for another Down Flat Down rail, which I will admit, I was scared to hit. My dad hit the powder in the trees and he enjoyed himself too. Then he filmed me on some stuff, and after we started filming, as usual, the stuff that I had stomped before, I could not seem to get. I even had trouble on some simple down rails. I must've hit this down rail on Jibs Galore atleast 8 or 9 times. I would fall, so I would hike it. It was a lot of work to hike, but totally worth it when I landed it. We filmed some more stuff there and then went and met up with my mom for lunch at Main Lodge.
We traversed back over to Main Park and stopped down at main Lodge to have lunch. It was a good lunch, but to be honest, I just wanted to get back out on the hill. We finished lunch and heard about my mom's day, and then headed back out for another couple hours on hill.
We kinda stayed in Main and Forest Trail for pretty much the rest of the time. It was super fun hitting all those features again, and again, and again. A couple hours more of park stuff and then the mountain closed and we headed back to the hotel.
After we got back to the hotel, I changed into normal clothes, and grabbed my gear. Then my mom took me to the Volcom Bros Skatepark. Since my dad was so beat from an entire day of riding.
The park was fun except for the fact that the pool and part of the flow sections were filled with snow from the night before. Most of the park was fine though. Being back there a second time, I really noticed things I didn't before. Just some rails I didn't see or a line that I hadn't thought of. There was this one line that I hit several times that shot me out onto a little transfer that I could air over. It was fun. All the guys there were really nice. 1 guy stayed mostly in the street section hitting the down rail. 1 guys was trying to 360 flip up a bank, 1 guys was on a bike and trying 180s out of the flow section. They were all super cool and all pretty good. But then it started to get pretty cold as the sun went down, so we decided to leave. It was still really fun, and I hope to get back there soon.
We ate at a place, I forget the name, but they served a lot of chicken. Like that was there specialty. Anyways, we ate there that night and I was super tired from the busy day. I didn't eat much but it all looked good. We got back to the hotel and I hung out for a bit and went to sleep.
The next morning, we got up, but since we already had our tickets, we didn't have to go get some. However, we were checking out of the hotel at noon, so my mom would have to kill a few hours after we checked out, while my dad and I were still on the hill. She is so great. We loaded most of the stuff into the truck so she wouldn't have to, and then we caught a shuttle.
We got there the second day and it was just as amazing as the first. This time we started off in Main park again and got warmed up. Then headed over to South Park. There were only a few changes made to the park, but enough to keep it interesting. This time, where there had previously been a giant roller, there was a medium sized step up. That one was fun. The whole park was really fun and we filmed a little more this time. I finally hit the Down Flat Down rail. I could not seem to make it all the way but it was fun to atleast know that I tried. I will get it next time. We headed back towards Main park and took 1 or 2 more runs. My dad then took his last run and went out to the car my mom had brought to load and organize all of our stuff for the ride back. I kept riding since the mountain wasn't closed yet. I hadn't had anything to eat or drink the whole day, which was not smart, and already being tired, plus no food or water the whole day, and riding all day, I was sooo tired. I took a couple more runs but was so thirsty that I made the trek out to the car to get water. I sat down and ate some bars and stuff, and drank a water bottle, but I was so tired that I didn't go back out to the mountain, even though I so desperately wanted to. I felt as though it would have been a really bad idea to go back. So although I didn't think it would be my final run, it was. The day was still great though.
Overall, the whole trip was amazing I hope I get to go back more next season. Thanks so much to my awesome parents who both took a day off of work to take me, and both made that long drive. That so much and it was awesome. :)
